EDITED 12 December 2025
Our next meeting is on Thursday 8 January 2026 at 2pm
We are an active group and new members are always welcome. Some just ‘join’ the local group – which is free – while others join Amnesty International for which you have to pay. There are well over 200 members in the Salisbury area. We are currently taking part in a Vigil every Saturday in the Market Square near the Library for half an hour starting at 5pm. The 100th takes place on November 1st. This is to urge peace in Gaza.
The best thing is to come along to an event we are organising and make yourself known. Alternatively, come to a group meeting on the second Thursday of the month and is usually held on Victoria Road but details will appear before a meeting to confirm.
Some people want to join because of a particular thing which moves them to want to take action: the death penalty or violence against women for example. Others want to take part in human rights activity generally.
The group has closed its page on X in view of the nature of material now posted on it. We are on Bluesky and Mastodon. We also have a Facebook page. We very much welcome contributions to our web or twitter pages even if it’s only just a small comment. And if you like or agree with a post, please click the appropriate button.
We await the new government’s approach to protests and demonstrations.
The Salisbury Group was established over 50 years ago. We are in our 51st year.

HOW DO I CHECK BEFORE YOUR SEPTEMBER MEETING? YOU SEEM TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO GIVE ANY DIRECT FORM OF CONTACT? A TELEPHONE NUMBER WOULD BE USEFUL.

Hello
I am interested in joining the Salisbury group. I am recently retired and have time to become more involved. I note that you are not holding meetings at present due to COVID. I’d be grateful if you would contact me once you resume.
Very best wishes

Dear Jennifer,
Many thanks for your message and I am sorry not to have replied before now: our lack of activity at the moment means we don’t look at the site as often as we should. I’d be delighted to discuss joining with you so perhaps the best thing is to give me a call sometime Salisbury 782382. Best wishes, Peter

Hi Jennifer,
I don’t know if you’re still interested in joining but we are back meeting again. If you go to the site you will see the minutes of the last meeting. We are holding a stall in the market square this coming Saturday 22nd so that would be an opportunity to say ‘hello’.
