December minutes

We are pleased to attach the minutes of the December 2021 meeting (via Zoom) thanks to group member Lesley for compiling them.

The minutes give details of our forthcoming events and these are an opportunity for people thinking of joining to make contact.

Group events

Meeting tonight via Zoom, starting at 7pm.

Card signing for Write for Rights on Saturday 11th at St Thomas’s church starting at 10 am.

Carol singing on Monday 20 December in Victoria Road and environs.

Hope to see supporters at one or other of these events.

Seasons greetings!

November meeting minutes

Attached are the minutes of the November 2021 meeting of the group thanks to group member Lesley for compiling them. At the end of the minutes are some future actions for example the annual carol singing in December, which members may wish to take part in.

October minutes

Attached are the group minutes of the meeting held on 14 October thanks to group member Fiona for preparing them. A full meeting and there is a note of our meeting with the MP for Salisbury Mr John Glen. The meeting was successful and our three representatives pointed out the many misgivings people have over the proposed legislation. Over 200 organisations – including Amnesty – are very concerned at three major bills currently before parliament which singly and together will have a major impact on our human rights. There is also the review of the Human Rights Act the results of which are awaited any time.

Next meeting

The next meeting will be on Thursday 14 October starting at the earlier time of 6:30 (please note) and will be in Attwood Road (just off Castle Road) in Salisbury. There will be lots to discuss and in particular a report from three group members who had a long meeting with Mr Glen (MP for Salisbury) to express our – and over a hundred other organisations’ concerns – about a raft of legislation currently before parliament. Mr Glen has promised to reply so that will feature in a future post.

We hope to welcome some new members who came to our stand at the People in the park event a few weekends ago.

September minutes

Minutes of the group meeting on 9 September 2021 are attached and thanks to group member Lesley for preparing them. This was the first time we were able to meet in person since the pandemic over 18 months ago.

Group’s annual BBQ

We hope to hold our annual BBQ again next Saturday 14th August starting at 4pm weather permitting. Members and supporters welcome. Please let one of us know either by direct contact, a message on this site, or on our Facebook page if you are thinking of coming.

Minutes: June

Minutes of the June 2021 meeting via Zoom

We are pleased to attach a copy of the June minutes thanks to group member Lesley for preparing them. It was a full meeting marked by a decision to end the North Korea campaign which has run for over a decade. The group thanked Tony for his work on this campaign over the years. Although no longer a specific campaign, we will carry out actions from time to time if the opportunity arises.

Minutes of the March 2021 meeting

We decided to reconvene via Zoom for a group meeting in March 2021 and ended up having a great deal to talk about. The minutes of that meeting are available thanks to group member Lesley for writing them up. The group will be taking a great interest in the forthcoming debate in parliament where it looks as though the government will be using the cover of Covid to limit the right to demonstrate and to give the police and Home Secretary greater powers to limit such demonstrations. We are also keeping a watching brief over the plans to alter the Human Rights Act, promised in several Conservative manifestos.

We were pleased to welcome a new member. New members welcome of course and leaving a message here or on Facebook is the best way.
